In 2001, a day after 9/11, journalist Nancy Gibbs writing the cover story for the Time magazine made a significant observation, "On a normal day we value heroism because it is uncommon. On Sept. 11, we valued heroism because it was everywhere." A year ago, on 26/11, that heroism was a contagious blessing across Mumbai.
Salaam Mumbai .. Salute thee Mumbai .. Amchi Mumbai (yea!! Raj I know marathi .. :)
26/11 . some dates are there that are going to remain always there in your minds .. whether you want them to be your "happy feelings" or "agonized-ed" .. it depends, but 26/11 is the one no one would even like to forget .. It gives me an immense pleasure to see that nobody cared about what so ever the situation was and everybody came as a single unit .. leaving behind the "kaala dhabba" of North Indian and marathi manoos lingo.
Many people, journalists, reporters etc etc are writing for this event..or the day..some getting the sad parts alive infront of us, some getting the most brave moments, some striking the chord with showing how Mumbai summed up in the spirit which is class at its best.
While writing this I dont know, what to write as I'm not pre-occupied with any kind of thoughts, but, I dont know why I'm still writing it .. lol :D PJ king
Anyways, I'd like to recall my short but still going on stint with Mumbai ..
Mumbai, the Maximum city, yeah it is .. [Jai, I agree Mumbai is amongst the best cities in India ) khush to bahut hoge tum] moving from Pune to Mumbai .. I had a kind of phobia (lets coin a new term for this phobia -- Mumophobia :P) phobia which made my each and every nerve kept shivering...thinking about travelling in locals...jammed in Traffic jams for hours..the ultimate "mahima" of Lord Indra[I think I'm right on this] for incessant rains..the Thackereys of any generation..the city so big..the city so populous..and, above that I was welcomed in such a wonderful manner, with high tides going some Xm of heights...OMG!!where am I going?
....
[After 3months and 28 days]
....
Yes I'm loving it .. Mumbai..wow, Mumbai !!
Indi's early skyscrapers..Bullwise BearAware..city which beckoned the sea in delightful arc..city that has everything..from the poorest to the richest..from the fisherman to the CEO..from the beggar to the Cinestar..and, from everything to almost everything..from the Dabbawallahs to the big spanky hotels..this city has cordially invited eveyone with open hands and big heart, and, no grudges[except Thackereys]
"Ae dil hai mushkil jeena yahan, ye hai Mumbai..ye hai Mumbai meri jaan"
Signing off with this beautiful song on the Maximum City .. and, going to hit the bed [As if I get late in the morning, I'll miss my cab :) and then, its all fighting with thousands of morons :P to rech my destination..]
