Salaam Mumbai

In 2001, a day after 9/11, journalist Nancy Gibbs writing the cover story for the Time magazine made a significant observation, "On a normal day we value heroism because it is uncommon. On Sept. 11, we valued heroism because it was everywhere." A year ago, on 26/11, that heroism was a contagious blessing across Mumbai.

Salaam Mumbai .. Salute thee Mumbai .. Amchi Mumbai (yea!! Raj I know marathi .. :)
26/11 . some dates are there that are going to remain always there in your minds .. whether you want them to be your "happy feelings" or "agonized-ed" .. it depends, but 26/11 is the one no one would even like to forget .. It gives me an immense pleasure to see that nobody cared about what so ever the situation was and everybody came as a single unit .. leaving behind the "kaala dhabba" of North Indian and marathi manoos lingo.

Many people, journalists, reporters etc etc are writing for this event..or the day..some getting the sad parts alive infront of us, some getting the most brave moments, some striking the chord with showing how Mumbai summed up in the spirit which is class at its best.

While writing this I dont know, what to write as I'm not pre-occupied with any kind of thoughts, but, I dont know why I'm still writing it .. lol :D PJ king

Anyways, I'd like to recall my short but still going on stint with Mumbai ..

Mumbai, the Maximum city, yeah it is .. [Jai, I agree Mumbai is amongst the best cities in India ) khush to bahut hoge tum] moving from Pune to Mumbai .. I had a kind of phobia (lets coin a new term for this phobia -- Mumophobia :P) phobia which made my each and every nerve kept shivering...thinking about travelling in locals...jammed in Traffic jams for hours..the ultimate "mahima" of Lord Indra[I think I'm right on this] for incessant rains..the Thackereys of any generation..the city so big..the city so populous..and, above that I was welcomed in such a wonderful manner, with high tides going some Xm of heights...OMG!!where am I going?
....
[After 3months and 28 days]
....
Yes I'm loving it .. Mumbai..wow, Mumbai !!
Indi's early skyscrapers..Bullwise BearAware..city which beckoned the sea in delightful arc..city that has everything..from the poorest to the richest..from the fisherman to the CEO..from the beggar to the Cinestar..and, from everything to almost everything..from the Dabbawallahs to the big spanky hotels..this city has cordially invited eveyone with open hands and big heart, and, no grudges[except Thackereys]

"Ae dil hai mushkil jeena yahan, ye hai Mumbai..ye hai Mumbai meri jaan"

Signing off with this beautiful song on the Maximum City .. and, going to hit the bed [As if I get late in the morning, I'll miss my cab :) and then, its all fighting with thousands of morons :P to rech my destination..]

Odds and Outs

26th July'2009 .. 15:25 .. Delhi Airport ..

Because of my presence at Airport and availability of free computer connected to the world .. and, seeing the long but meaningful security check-in lines .. I'm writing something that is in "breaking news" from last 2-3 weeks ...

Somedays back there was a furore over the disrespect being shown to the former President "Sir" APJ Abdul Kalam, by the officials of Continental Airlines .. Ask once, Ask twice .. and If still your grey matter persists .. Ask thrice ... Are we so much into "babugiri" and "netagiri". The President had no "bad feelings" about why the former head of the country was asked to stop and proceed after security formalities .. but our own gusty representatives of "the people" (quoting Sakarika Ghosh) had some "bad feelings" which once again put me in a question of doubt .. "Is security more important or honor being conferred to the VVIPs?" (I seriously admit that Kalam Sir cant carry something hazardous to security, but please read the question again just quoted above) .. Concluding with what striked my mind in the last 10-15 minutes .. Please do devote some of your precious time reading what Sagarika has to say ..

A good one ..

Do read Baijaynath "Jai" Panda's article on the same . . If you manage to get the same :D

Till then,

PS: Next edition: Solar eclipses .. Science .. Religion .. Hysteria .. or just some "breaking News"

The Strange Rise of Modern India

It was some 5PM and surya devta was at its best .. everybody was just glued to their TV sets, with their AC switched on to the minimum temperature .. the IPL fever is almost over, after a stupendous performance by last year;s "last rankers", the Deccan Chargers .. (Well, KKR would be too excited for IPL-3, 2010 .. thinking off that "last rankers" can really make it large in the subsequent editions .. jokes apart, KKR .. ask your players to compete with Jamshedpur's Jamoore (fiction !!) and, if you win .. then come for IPL tourney)

OMG!! everything has been messed up . . anyways, IPL fever is almost over .. many TV channels are trying to woo the audience by featuring new programs/reality shows/world premiers . . . but, hard luck they can't beat "our" all time favorites "news channels" .. yea, the same channels which are making us aware of "the minister's dog has been found" .. "AB ko thand lagi" .. "where are the cows, are they eaten up by aliens" and many more "breaking news" .. but, that day they showed something very peculiar .. ohh, wat happened ekdum se in Punjab .. was my reaction, when I saw people buring down the trains, buses to ashes .. Is another Godhra coming up .. ?? well, no Godhra, but still what happened? then I came to know to know that some baba ji has been shot in Vienna, Austria .. and this whole drama is taking place in Punjab .. well, If turning down the buses and trains to ashes is going to get their saint back to normal life .. I plead to didi (o wow !! yea Mamata) to order and get some hundereds of extra coaches manufactured .. so that, no body is going to hell (O I mean heaven !!)

breakk ...

Why am I talking about this . .?

I'm worried about the Strange Rise of Modern India .. Obviously, we are progressing but are we really progressing is what I'm worried about ..

Mayawati, sacking 100s of Civil Servants ..because she lost the elections ...

Ganda khel of Politics .. Ministers taking no time to blame each other ..

still, babu giri in sarkari offices ..

and, many more instances are there .. because of which, I'm worried of India's rise in 2020 ..

If you wait, all that happens is that you get older

Ladies and Gentlemen,

Hello !!

I need your attention, please .. okk, so here we are .. yes, the moment, the extraordinary, and the very splendid day in the history ..that atleast your great grandsons are also not going to witness ... has arrived, with all the blessings and all the love ..

The moment is finally here, yes, with all the biggest pride I can have .. and, all the greatest hapiness I can have, your friend George Clooney alongwith ravishing beauty Angelina Jolie are going to unveil the most eminent and the impeccable machine of the century .. yes, hold your breath .. here it is .. the proud owner .. the man who knows no boundaries, and no limits Mr. Gaurav Jindal with his newly bought Royal Enfield Electra .. which is specially made on order by the manufacturers .. and it took some 12 years, as per their newscorner to make such a materpiece

I can feel the thrill ... yea yea Pitt .. "you'll also get a chance to see" .. wait for sometime ..

Well, Jolie.. "Do you wanna throw some light on this beautiful night" ??

Clooney, "I can't express the feelings, you know, Slumdog Millionaire winning 8/10 awards at Oscars was also not that much dazzling and elegant .. but, this is something amazing and unbelievable .. I'd like to go for a date with Mr. Jindal .. on this "once made" motorcycle in a lifetime ... ooooo I cant believe this .. I'm loving it .. "

Well, here we are with proud owner and the effluent person in his field .. Mr. Jindal, "Do you have to say something on this? "

"Thankyou all, its like a dream come true .. thanks once again .. whole of my life I had two options .. love and hate .. I chose love .. and, thats why I'm here" he said.

With his love towards giving witty statements at every ocassion .. here also, he was not quiet, quoting "You can forget what you do for a living when your knees are in the breeze."

P.S.: This is the exact replica of the event that took place at Kodak theatre, LA.

Travelling, without moving an inch !!

"Mind as free as Oceans, Limits limitless as Sky, Dreams as wild as blah blah"

This is not any inspirational SMS I got, not a quote by anybody, and not even a dialogue in any of the flicks .. well, this was something with which my day started (the day of another weekend!!) .. Actually, I read this particular thingie on one of the Woodland's Carry bag lying just next to the 6"*3" piece of furniture, so called my bed.
It was a tightly scheduled day .. so had to go accordingly and yeah with every drop of my blood going for the punctuality nuances. Started the day with a slow but a good reto kinda story, a movie that meant everything for the parents and not that much, for kids. A story, where somebody has to adjust for the khushi of the other. The Namesake, a simple but a beautiful story told, with the storyline being picked from the book The Namesake, by Jhumpa Lahiri. A story where how a kid named Gogol, transforms to Nick (Nikhil!!) and how the Gangulis, did a bit of everything to savour their piece of happiness in the old traditional ways.

The next in the line of so called busy schedule was The Landmark Quiz, ahaaa .. Quiz make me feel somewhat happy, even the whole world is crying out in the tough times of recession, I'll feel bad if I wont do a cut-copy-paste of a quote which includes the Big heavy names like Harry S. Truman, Ronald Reagen and the India Connection President Jimmy Carter .. “A recession is when your neighbor loses his job; a depression is when you lose yours.” and soon Reagen added (no pun intended, not left though :) And recovery is when Jimmy Carter loses his.” Losing the plot, coming back to main point, I was talking about The Landmark Quiz, a 17KM to-and-fro journey makes a Quizzer like me atleast feel hapy abouth the point, that, I make efforts (a good one, to sataite yourself, when you know you have not even cleared prelime). One of the biggest quiz in which I participated with over 264 Quality teams and 1 Non-Quality Compliance team (no points for guessing whose :P, the Quiz was simply a landmark in the history of Indian Quizzing. With people coming all over from Chennai, every corner of Maharashtra, Hyderabad and Goa, being the AUDIENCE was also a bliss. With Questions, ranging from every nook and book .. I think not even a single thing under the sun was spared.

Obligatory Question .. What are "stunt" Grammys ?
(I bet even Danny Boyle, is going to say "Jai Ho" for this .. )

Dates and Days, are of utmost importance for people of any genre, similarly, the Sunday, 22nd February'2009 was waited like anything, by the people who were associated with any kind of "X-Wood" as it was a day when the best-of-the-pack are going to win laurels for their countries .. The red Carpet was rolled down, dashing suits and boots, beautiful attires, a splendid night was here right infront of you, live @ Kodak Theatre, Los Anegeles .. and to unveil The Oscars (need to say more ??)

Our own entry (I'm happy about Rehman, Anil, Gulzar saab, Irfan, Azharuddin, Dev and Rubina and Pinki too !! .. Others also, If missed) but not happy for Slumdog Millionaire in real. And, why should I?
There's nothing to cheer about, apart from the good thing, that this movie had actors from India .. It hurts when some foreigner portrays our Poverty and our slums in a way, which are definitely liked by the firangis, not going against them though. But, its not a good way to portray a country like India.

Anyways, hats off to the Award winners, and my personal wishes to late Heath, who had done an extremely fantastic role, being a joker in The Dark Knight.

O well, I watched the latest flick Delhi-6, by Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra. I dont know, what to say?
But, is RGV ki Aag better than this? (somebody told me !)

Another weekend came to end, and, again I thought I travelled a lot, but not even moved an inch.

Till then, Have fun !!

Our Prez, their President !!

It was August 4, 1961 somewhere in Honolulu..when a baby was born and now it is 20th January The first Afro-American President is elected .. the number 44th.. taking the honorary seat from George W Bush .. the "brightest black and dark" day in the history of not only USA .. but whole world, that the superpower country is going to be "ruled" by a black .. the only day, when no racism, no taunts, no gibes, no banters are being made by the white junta ..

The massive crowd, some 30bn braving the colds in the capital, was all cheered up for Obama as Jesus Christ himself has arrived on the planet Earth .. It was a scene that could make even Steven Spielberg to think about .. From centuries and decades, the Americas have the rock solid history of the presidents .. some with a flamboyant appeal .. many with the witty decision power .. but this banda is a different one .. but why ? (Well .. I'm not going to discuss everthing over here .. because I've some work to do !!)

But, I would like to share some of my thoughts here ..

What is the difference between our Prez and their President .. ??

I still remember the day our sahiba ji was selected, it was like any other day .. with not even 300 people standing and waiting for her to say something on something .. though she also holds a distinction .. being the first lady to hold the position of prez in my India .. when I was watching the live coverage of "Inaugration of Obama" everybody (my roomies) were hooked to the television, as Sachin Tendulkar is playing on beaten 200 in the World Cup Finals .. and I still remember the day July 25' 2007 ..when our first lady was elected, no body even cared to switch on to the news channels .. but why ?

Why everybody is hooked to see Obama, not ours Prez .. and not even any other nation's President or even their Prime Minister .. Are they too much looked for .. Are they too much flamboyant .. Are they the only saviors of the World .. ??

Well, I'm still looking for the perfect answer .. but, till then, I wish Our countrymen to also have some kinda information on the prez;s of our nation .. and wishing Obama to really make a Change .. (hoping, Obama is going to increase the numbers of H1 .. :)

To end with it .. a small kissa

Last Roadies .. the Roadies 5.0, Rannvijay asked the beautiful dumbs about who is the president of our country .. and they(without any guilt on their face) enunciated "Sushma Swaraj" and I was like .. ahh ahh fuck ..

I hope the ladies must be aware of Obama, without nay doubt .. and also Pratibha .. atleast after that !!

pinned down the pic of Five Presidents .. George HW Bush..Obama..George W Bush..Bill Clinton..and Jimmy Carter ..

P.S.: Why prez for Indian president, and no Prez for American President ?? (Think about this also !! )

The Drunkard Walk !!

Always and everytime, I used to think .. am I too drunk, that I'm not able to understand what is happening around me..or am I supposed to walk the drunkard's walk..or am I too drunk, that even little things around me makes me so excited that I don't care about the big ones ..

Well ... I dont know, what's going on with me .. but obviously my India .. my passion .. my love .. my own country is walking a perfect Drunkard walk .. and, that too without any "patiala peg" in it's hand ..

It takes a long time for a person like me (who sometimes expresses his views though Octane91's power), but, as it is truly said, when Limits are crossed .. One has to get warned .. :)

Starting from the ganda politics of our own Marathi Manoos (Mr. Raj, I'm proudly saying "Jai Maharashtra" till now !!) ... to the utmost terrible Mumbai Attacks .. my love has been torned apart .. People in Orissa killing each other on the basis of religion .. the "selection note" of some Ghooman Devi of Meena Community by Ashok Gehlot, so that, he wins the hearts of the minority community .. The Raj's Sena killing people .. doing the worst they can do on North Indians .. specifically Biharis and UPians .. Well, I've a question for u my dear "shubecha" neta ji where are you, after one of the most heinous terror attacks in Mumbai .. Why your kuttas are not throwing Yadav, the head constable, who continously fired upon terrorists, out of your Maharashtra .. from movies like A Wednesday, anytime masterpiece to Rab ne bana di jodi (I bet, now onwards Rab ji is going to stop these activities too !!) and from ups and downs of sports in India, though mainly ups with Saina the hottest talk in any Sporting arena .. arre Dhoni we have not forgotten you .. you are the most "hottest" topic anytime always !!

The market(s) getting the worst lows of the year (well, I think these numbers are going to be the worst for ceturies ahead..)..After seeing the Fords, the GMs of America .. I was just having a plain thinking of our own Maruti, which just completed the glorious 25 years !! Nothing offensive, though)

With Biggies offering the pink slips .. with 2 months Pay in advance .. was like a "salty cake" for the big honchos who were in the corps for some 10 years or even more than that .. Lehmann bros.MeryllLynch.and even others got a lifetime shock .. which was simply a big time sucker for their CEOs and the party .. (Its time to rethink, why a person should not do the MBA!! PJ )

Even our desis were not running behind, giving the jhatka to otherwise jhatka givers (I think u have got it!!) .. the deals and M&As were looking murkier .. and if they happened, they were a quite affair ..

Who can forget the Tata's Nano..the way the Tata sr. launched and got the applauds from round the globe, our own, madam ji .. made a big blocker .. the Nandigram .. and then Singur .. big time nightmares for Tata's .. though it shows that they can be hurt but not knocked .. and the JLR takeover was like a dream for every Indian eye, seen by Ratan and the team .. though he's having some issues like him .. but, we know .. he is the warrior and warriors know only one thing: Victory !!
Thats what is being shown, when the Taj Towers and heritage building was reopened for the guests .. The Oberois wer not left behind, getting the Trident into action too ..

The biggest event on the earth (as it was accliamed) took place in June-July .. yeah, the IPL .. full of moolah . . making my love more famous and also showing that we are the next champions, the next SuperPower .. ohh thats also being shown, when I see my love's color on the moon .. thank you!! Chandrayan .. and thanks a ton!! ISRO's Madhvan and the team .. u people rock !!

The Coalition Government, pics showing the bribe taking netas, was a lifetime moment, as the last time a coalition Govt was formed in the year 1972 .. lucky to see it alive.. :)
The resignation of Patils ... the tehlna of Ram Gopal .. and the mirch masalas of State elections ...

The saddest part, among all was the Mumbai attacks .. with dirty political comments from some of the leaders is what makes me feel shame about my love ..

"We can be hurt, but we cannot be knocked .. "

To be Continued ..

Till then, a gentle request, please do whatever you can do for my love .. even a bit will do .. stop it from any drunkard walk ..

make it Proud !!
